Privacy policy

Scope

This policy describes personal information handled through Power Totals, including calculator pages, quote requests, email subscriptions, advertising, affiliate links, analytics, and supporting infrastructure.

Installer listing claims and corrections

A listing claim collects the submitted contact name, business email address, business relationship details, listing identifier, submission time, and technical anti-abuse information. A correction report collects the listing identifier, issue category, submitted details, optional email address, submission time, and technical anti-abuse information. Power Totals uses these records to verify ownership, review corrections, prevent abuse, maintain directory accuracy, and contact the submitter about the request. Claim and correction records are stored in the first-party Cloudflare database, are not sold to installers, and follow the 24-month retention period stated below unless a longer period is required for security or legal reasons.

Google Maps review information

Installer profiles may link to Google Maps and, for a business that PowerTotals has confidently matched to a Google Place ID, offer a control to load current Google ratings and reviews. The Google component is not contacted until you choose that control. Loading it causes your browser to connect directly to Google, which may receive your IP address, browser or device information, the page URL, and related request data under the Google Privacy Policy. PowerTotals stores the Place ID and its own match metadata, but does not store Google rating values, review counts, review text, or reviewer identities.

Information collected

• Quote requests: name, email address, phone number, postal or ZIP code, homeowner response, monthly electric bill, and editable project details such as system size, annual energy use, electricity rate, and installed cost.
• Email subscriptions: email address, subscription status, source page, timestamps, confirmation and unsubscribe records, tool category, and state or ZIP information inferred from information already entered.
• Usage and analytics: after analytics consent, page path, event name, calculator completion, optional quote-CTA view or click, calculator slug, category, CTA variant, session identifier, timestamp, referrer URL, and a referrer classification such as organic search, AI assistant, direct, or other. Lead-signal events do not include raw calculator values or contact details. With consent, Microsoft Clarity may also process interaction and device information.
• Technical information: IP address, browser and device information, request headers, security logs, and network timing received by hosting, security, analytics, or advertising infrastructure.
• Cookies and storage: consent preferences, session identifiers, and, after consent, cookies or similar identifiers used by analytics and advertising providers.

Calculator arithmetic runs in the browser. Calculator values become collected personal information when they are included in a quote request, subscription segment, support message, or another submitted record.

How information is used

• To securely record a solar project request and allow Power Totals to follow up. Installer matching is not currently active.
• To send requested subscription confirmations, solar-incentive updates, and operational unsubscribe messages.
• To measure site usage, diagnose reliability or security problems, classify referral sources, and evaluate calculator and funnel performance, including EnergySage CTA views and clicks after analytics consent.
• To select, deliver, measure, and prevent abuse of advertising or affiliate programs when those features are active and consent permits them.
• To comply with legal obligations and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Networx quote referrals

Optional links labeled Networx open Networx's website, where visitors may submit a new project request under Networx's own policies. The link carries our affiliate ID so a qualifying referral can be credited to this site. It contains no calculator inputs, ZIP codes, contact details, or site session identifier. We may receive a referral fee. Networx handles information submitted on its site and contractor matching; existing requests stored on this site are not forwarded through these links.

Sharing and partner categories

Project requests are currently stored in Power Totals' first-party Cloudflare database and are not sent or sold to installers. When the PowerTotals EnergySage partner page is active, a labeled outbound link opens EnergySage's site. EnergySage controls any information a visitor chooses to submit there under its own privacy policy. PowerTotals does not include calculator inputs, results, ZIP codes, or contact details in that outbound URL. If installer matching or on-site sharing is introduced, the request form and privacy policy will identify the recipient before information is shared. Cloudflare processes hosting, security, Functions and encrypted database records. When lead-email delivery is configured, Resend processes the request details needed to email the site operator.

Specification-matched equipment recommendations may include sponsored links to Renogy and AiPower generated and measured through the impact.com affiliate platform. PowerTotals sends visitors to those services only after they deliberately follow a sponsored link. The outbound tracking URL identifies PowerTotals, the equipment category, and the results placement; it does not include calculator inputs, results, ZIP codes, contact details, or a PowerTotals session identifier. Renogy, AiPower, and impact.com control their destination-site data practices under their own policies.

Microsoft Clarity is the currently configured third-party analytics product; it is blocked until analytics consent is given. Cloudflare provides hosting, security, Functions, and database infrastructure. EnergySage CTA view and click events use the same consent-gated first-party funnel and do not contain calculator values or contact information.

Future lead transmission or cross-context advertising may be treated as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under applicable law. PowerTotals does not transmit first-party lead records to EnergySage.

Cookies and consent choices

Essential browser storage records the visitor's privacy choice and supports requested site functions. Session storage may hold a funnel session identifier and original referrer after analytics consent. Analytics and advertising scripts, cookies, pixels, and similar technologies are blocked until the visitor selects “Accept analytics and ads.”

Visitors can choose “Use essential only” in the banner, send a Global Privacy Control signal, or reopen Privacy preferences from this page or the footer. Withdrawing consent stops new nonessential tracking on subsequent page activity; a reload clears already-loaded analytics from the active document. Affiliate destinations may use their own cookies after a visitor deliberately follows a sponsored link.

Retention

Retention placeholder: 24 months. Quote leads and analytics events are retained for 24 months after collection. Pending, unsubscribed, and suppression records are retained for 24 months after their last activity. Confirmed subscriber information is retained while the subscription remains active and for up to 24 months after unsubscribe. Security logs and backups may persist for up to 24 months unless a shorter operational schedule or a longer legal requirement applies.

Choices and rights

Subject to applicable law and identity verification, a person may request access to the personal information associated with them, correction of inaccurate information, or deletion. A person may withdraw consent for future optional processing, object to or restrict certain processing, and request a portable copy where the law provides those rights.

• Access: request a copy through the contact route.
• Correction: identify the inaccurate record through the same contact route.
• Deletion: submit a deletion request; information may be retained where legally required or necessary for security, fraud prevention, or legal claims.
• Withdraw consent: use the footer privacy-preferences control for analytics and advertising, use the unsubscribe link in any subscription email, or contact Power Totals about other consent-based processing.

Power Totals may request enough information to verify the requester and locate the relevant records.

Quebec residents: Law 25

Quebec residents may request access to and correction of personal information and may withdraw consent to its use or disclosure, subject to legal restrictions. A withdrawal may prevent Power Totals or a provider from completing a requested service. Requests and privacy complaints can be sent through the contact page.

European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

Where the GDPR or equivalent local law applies, processing may rely on consent for nonessential analytics, advertising, and subscriptions; steps requested before entering a provider relationship for quote handling; legitimate interests for security, service measurement, and fraud prevention; or legal obligations. Visitors may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, and withdrawal of consent, and may complain to their local supervisory authority. Requests can be submitted through the contact page.

California residents: CCPA/CPRA

Where the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA, applies, California residents may have rights to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, correct inaccurate information, delete information subject to exceptions, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and exercise rights without discriminatory treatment. Requests may be made through the contact page or through the footer privacy-preferences control. Power Totals recognizes browser Global Privacy Control signals for analytics and advertising choices.

CCPA/CPRA publishing placeholder: Confirm statutory applicability, whether each lead or advertising disclosure is a sale or sharing, the prior-12-month category disclosures, treatment of postal/location information, and whether a separate “Do Not Sell or Share” method is required.

International processing and security

Providers may process information outside the visitor's province, state, or country. Power Totals uses access controls, HTTPS, authenticated administration, and database controls intended to reduce unauthorized access, but no transmission or storage system can be guaranteed secure.
